About Moore and Winn Families
When in his 50s, my father, Richard E. Moore, Sr., started researching our family history the hard way -- visits to cemeteries, courthouses, and libraries. My interest in this started during the same period in my life -- in my 50s -- but has been much easier for me because of the internet. I have also visited various cemeteries, courthouses, and libraries, but not the the extent that he did. It is ironic that my father always told my mother, Doris E. Winn Moore, that his family would be much easier to trace, but I have easily found information about some of my mother's family. I have also found that some persons in our family grasp at fame, but many times it's just out of reach. Like the Dufour that married Osama bin Laden's BROTHER (not Osama), although the story I originally got was that she was Osama's first wife. And James Buchanan (15th US President) was a half-brother. It does get very interesting in the 1000s in Scotland when our ancesters were kings -- somehow we lost the castle. I will be digging into that in the future. Any help anyone wants to provide, please contact me at gaye.mertz@gmail.com. Enjoy your visit!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
