When in his 50s, my father, Richard E. Moore, Sr., started researching our family history the hard way -- visits to cemeteries, courthouses, and libraries. My interest in this started during the same period in my life -- in my 50s -- but has been much easier for me because of the internet. I have also visited various cemeteries, courthouses, and libraries, but not the the extent that he did. It is ironic that my father always told my mother, Doris E. Winn Moore, that his family would be much easier to trace, but I have easily found information about some of my mother's family. I have also found that some persons in our family grasp at fame, but many times it's just out of reach. Like the Dufour that married Osama bin Laden's BROTHER (not Osama), although the story I originally got was that she was Osama's first wife. And James Buchanan (15th US President) was a half-brother. It does get very interesting in the 1000s in Scotland when our ancesters were kings -- somehow we lost the castle. I will be digging into that in the future.
